Editorial 2022

The last editorial was published in 2018, and there have been several important milestones and events since then.

In 2018, Language Testing in Asia (LTA) was accepted into Scopus, and at that time, the journal cite score was a modest 0.3. This has increased significantly every year and the latest score is 2.7, with a ranking of 107 out of the 968 journals in Languages and Linguistics, indexed by Scopus: putting us firmly within the top quartile of Scimago Journal Ranking. LTA has an impressive number of downloads (270,344 in 2021) due to an increasing interest in language testing and also because the journal is fully open access, meaning that all articles are free to read.

Additionally, the journal was accepted by Web of Science, Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), in 2021 and is on track to be given an impact factor in the near future.

These impressive results are due, of course, to the quality of the research showcased in the submissions and by the diligence of our team of reviewers. The journal is attracting increasing numbers of submissions, and qualified researchers who could be added to our list of reviewers should contact the editors.

Two special issues are still open: Learning oriented Assessment (LOA): A Window for Fairness in Classroom Assessment? and New Technologies in Language Testing and Assessment. For anyone interested the details for submission are available on the LTA homepage.

We also acknowledge Professor Yan Jin, the Co-Editor in Chief of LTA, who was honored with the Cambridge/International Language Testing Association Distinguished Achievement Award in 2021.
